The Jack Rose cocktail brings together applejack (or higher-proof bonded apple brandy) with tangy grenadine and lemon. If you don't want to make your own grenadine, you can purchase a high-quality version from Small Hand Foods.

Serves 1

2 ounces applejack
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce homemade grenadine (3/4 ounce if using bonded apple brandy)
Thinly sliced apple, for garnish (optional)
  1. In cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine applejack, lemon juice, and grenadine. Shake vigorously, then strain into a 6-ounce cocktail glass. Garnish with apple slice.

  • Made these cocktails for Thanksgiving this year and so far everyone has been loving them. It's absolutely delicious and I will be making it again. Great fall drink.

  • This is the perfect fall drink! Easy to make, lovely to look at, exquisite to taste! I added a light rim of superfine sugar to the glass before serving. And the homemade grenadine syrup is wonderful! I've found a new favorite!
